A central connecting hub for all food-related matters in Plymouth

Our multi-sector award winning partnership, founded in 2010, comprises a diverse mix of agencies, organisations, businesses, community groups and individual citizens, all working together to actively promote and lobby for healthy, sustainable and affordable food as a driver for positive change. The Food Plymouth partnership and network is facilitated and resourced by Food Plymouth CIC.

The collaborative work of the partnership is expressed through the six strands of our action plan, each of which focuses on transforming a different aspect of our food system. These are illustrated in our symbolic lighthouse diagram and correspond to the six strands of the Sustainable Food Places network, of which Plymouth was a Bronze Award holder member since 2015, before achieving Silver Award in 2023. Plymouth is is proud to be home to one of over 90 local food partnerships in cities, boroughs and counties across the UK who are part of the network. From 2022-2023, Plymouth was also part of the FoodSHIFT2030 programme, partnering with Copenhagen in an unique peer learning programme.

Support during the cost of living crisis

In the wake of an incredible local response in Plymouth to food issues during the Coronavirus outbreak, we are continuing to facilitate the Plymouth Food Aid Network and are working with partners across the city to ensure even more support is in place as the cost of living crisis deepens.

Recognising the common threads between food, fuel and financial insecurity, we are working with Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Energy Community and others to ensure a joined-up approach to support, linking in with national organisations such as the Independent Food Aid Network and more.
